Comment following Ruth Sheppard's blog on gossip

I agree that people gossip mainly for the reason that they want to feel better about themselves by talking about other people generally in a negative way. I agree that it is bad because it is playing with a persons feelings, however, like you, I am also guilty of it and I think most people are. Everyone has their own opinions about other people and they aren’t always going to be nice when talking to other people about it. But like you say, it is in magazines and newspaper articles so there is no getting away from it really. I think though if people gossip about other people, they should not react so badly if they find out people are gossiping about them!
